The Torture of Ares Gray
The first thing he noticed was the smell, a cloying stench of decay that he could almost taste, jerking him out of unconsciousness.  He groggily tried to sit up and search the room, and regretted it immediately, his memory coming back to him slowly as he glanced to his own mangled body, before even taking in the rusted bars, caked in filfth, or the single manacle attached to his only remaining ankle.  Before he managed to look beyond the bars of his cage, a guttural voice spoke.
"It's awake."
Ares barely held in a shudder, and hesitated before casting his gaze beyond the tiny, rusted cage, afraid of what he might find.
The creatures outside his cage were familiar to him, from the assault.  He'd seen enough of them by now; they were almost human, but twisted, mutated, deformed.  It was as if the creatures wanted to be Adepts, but lacking the ability, they made up for it in depravity.  He could only assume their injuries were self inflicted - they had sown on pat

Random Planetside Story
The corridor was almost silent, save an eerie hum from the tube-like protrusions, the terminals on the opposite wall flashing various holographic images to make them easy to identify in a fight.  Not that there was any fighting here - the air itself seemed different, one of the many reported effects of the massive suppression field across the planet.  Not that the soldiers saw much of this world, save the paths to the warpgates and a lot of cold, steel walls.
"Recall to Sanctuary",  a crisp order comes over my comm link, as I had been instructed it would.  Within seconds, the corridor fills with noise - the soft beeping of successful spawn tubes, drowned out immediately by the sharp thud of metal boots as the soldiers purposefully take to the equipment terminals, each requisitioning the agile version of their exo-suit, along with a few choice supplies.  They were well trained, but  they had also done this a thousan

Susan's Brother
Ares knew what was to come after his lessons, but he wasn't yet sure of the consequences, and found it difficult to focus on his so-called studies.  Not that he had any intention of doing so, but as long as he looked like he was paying attention, he wouldn't be punished for doing poorly.  Besides, etiquette?  Because that's definitely essential for survival here.  Fighting lessons would be nice, but according to his parents, fighting was for the lesser folk.  Too bad he never had a choice.
Across the field, a group of three older boys were making lewd gestures towards the Ogebi who hadn't even reached his teens yet, sometimes threatening, sometimes just stupid, stopping only long enough for the teacher to look away again.  Ares didn't look at them, but he saw them - and they knew he could see them.  He was an Ogebi - he could see just about everything that was happening around him, at all times.

Ares - Training Montage
Ares awoke instantly to Garrith's movements, but he knew there was no danger.  An Ogebi's third eye never sleeps - Garrith had never had to test him on that.  He'd never actually been able to sneak out of bed without Ares noticing, despite his efforts.  But then again, stealth had never been his strongest suit.
His master climbed out of his bedroll slowly but purposefully, taking the time to roll it up.  He glanced at Ares and smiled, knowing that even with his eyes closed, Ares would catch it.  "Did you sleep?"
Ares slitted an eye at him.  "Meditation calms the mind, Master.  I managed."  He lets out a sheepish smile, radiant in it's youth at 15 years.  Today was to be the day he'd been waiting for.  If he had it his way, he would have been practicing constantly with those pistols.  But Garrith knew better, or at least thought he did and was bigger and stronger tha

Game v2
The tops of the walls were glowing gently with an almost unnoticeable light - it was a testament to Jannis' sight that he even noticed anything, but then again, he was constantly peering through his own periscope.  As Thumbs watched, the spectral lights became more distinct, shining a deep violet color, slowly brightening and rising as the light formed an increasingly visible wall over the parapets.
Thumbs cursed, taking only a moment to aim his cannon, yanking on the pull-lever and creating a massive boom, startling the wizard and at the same time throwing off Zack's aim, making his shot fly far as the door slammed shut, the rookie quickly turning the cranks to seal it.
The mortar shell flew perfectly, arced as high as possible to hit the parapets and the robed men now gathering atop them.  It came down, the wizards on the wall watching, horrified, as it hit the violet light ... and vanished.  The violet pulsed briefly, growing brighter and more distinct.

SpeedWriting Challenge - 30min
Sark sighs, appearing in front of a no-longer-surprised Leo.  "Dammit, man, he's trying to kill us again," he says noncomitally as Leo gives him an odd look.
"Us?" Leo asks, "Fuck that, it's just you, man."
"Well shit.  I don't know who it is, if they're just after me.  I mean, everyone wants you dead, even me, so if they want me dead, they probably want you dead too.  I guess that's a heads up, eh?" Sark smiles stupidly, because they both knew that wasn't why he came here.
"So you want my help."
"Actually, I've been getting kinda bored lately.  This is just what we need, don't you think?" Sark shrugs.  "I haven't had an excuse to do this in ages," he says, bathing the room in a golden light as he sheds an angelic glow.
Leo rolls his eyes. "You're such a douche.  What do you even want to do?"
"Hell if I know.  Probably find whoever torched that grove I was sitting in and then go for

Game v1
Speaking of siege engines, nobody was quite sure why Zack had decided to get trashed while he was supposed to be driving one.  The more responsible members of the crew dutifully turned levers, pulled cranks, and did their best to steer the contraption, a huge, spike-ridden thing with wheels and a cannon or two.  Or two, because while it only had one primary cannon, it was rigged to blow in the unlikely event it was compromised, to try to prevent the technology from spreading.  But then, who really cared anymore?  Most of the crewmembers - hell, most of the world - was of the opinion that the faster this war ended, the better, and to hell with who actually wins it.  If the enemy gets their siege engines, and they win because of it, at least the war will be over.  That's why Thumbs had already disarmed the self-destruct mechanism.
Thumbs ... the demolitionist.  He manned the cannon now, though 'manned' is a term that l

So I was up last night at like 4:00, and wanted to take a nap before I started my homework, so I set an alarm for 4:50, and one on my alarm clock for 5:00 just in case my other one didn't wake me up.  I went to bed, come 4:50, my alarm starts ringing incessantly.  I beat randomly at the alarm clock - when it doesn't stop, I start pushing random buttons and sliding things.  Once or twice, the alarm clock's alarm and/or radio turned on even louder, and I continue pressing buttons for a good few minutes panicking over the noise I'm making at 5 AM.  I finally crawl out of bed, shove the trash can out of the way, and yank the power cord, to no avail - the noise continues bleating at me.  It dawns on me that it was the cell phone alarm, I press the one little button, plop down in bed, and fall asleep.  I wake up 20 minutes before class due to a lucky e-mail.

Without the reasoning behind it:
I stayed up until 4:00 playing video games, then set an alarm for 4:50.  I went to bed, woke up at 4:50, unplugged my alarm clock, trashed my room, and went back to sleep without setting an alarm for the next school day.

Wtf is wrong with me when I just wake up. xD
